A Reflection on Shared Ownership and Responsibility
Ownership shapes how we view and engage with what we hold. Whether it’s a house, a business, or a church, ownership carries implications for care, responsibility, and the way we interact with others involved in that space. The idea of shared ownership — especially in a church — forces us to ask big questions: Who owns the church? What does ownership look like? And how do we live it out when things aren’t perfect?

Ownership and Care: Why It Matters
When you own something, it’s personal. Think about the difference between renting a car and owning one. When it’s yours, you care more. You’re invested. You’re protective.
When it comes to the church, ownership ultimately belongs to Christ. He’s the head. He’s the foundation.
Ephesians 1:22–23: “And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.”
